Microsoft Azure began offering preconfigured solution patterns deployable to Azure via subscription. Each solution combined custom code and Azure services to implement specific industry relevant scenarios. The issue addressed by the Deploy Wizard is the lack of visualization for this sort of deployment. Services are installed and can be customized for specific user requirements, but the lack of a visualized beginning or ending state made solutions difficult for Business Decision Makers to understand and adopt.
I sat with stakeholders to clearly understand the technical requirements and dependencies of the deployment process while advocating for the non-technical user. The solution proposed was a guided wizard experience to deploy, a customizable Power BI dashboard (to be provided for each solution) and an interactive landing page that would summarize the solution, offer key metrics, learning materials and next steps. The landing page offers the user a cohesive view of a potentially ambiguous solution, as well as providing the business with opportunities to further engage users.
