Microsoft's Global Foundation Services group was responsible for building tools and services to help run Data Centers, requiring a robust and integrated Asset Management system that would allow for discovery, cataloging and monitoring of infrastructure assets around the globe. This design became the core of our UX approach to a datacenter infrastructure application layer, offering a clean and simple UI for users to search, filter, and query massive databases of asset information.
The proposed platform unified services that had previously stood separately and did not seamlessly interact (as shown in the "Driving Simplification" sketch below.) The dashboard solution- a result of extensive stakeholder interviews and user shadowing- made these services accessible in a more intuitive and contextual manner.
